Well, if you are like me you are a huge movie fan. In my opinion, movies are getting better every year. The people who are behind the scenes and those on the screen are breaking new barriers with every new release. The July release of Transformers in my opinion will probably be the most impressive display of all these talents and abilities since The Matrix and Lord of The Rings trilogies.
One thing that I see that really is disappointing, to me, in regards to the Movie Industry would be the overall clickishness (I know it’s not a word, but it fits the bill) of the industry executives. What I mean by this is, and I will use myself as an example, being an outsider and trying to break into this industry is ridiculous. I have been trying to get my synopsis read for over a year… my synopsis! I’m not even talking about my script! I get the same story every time… “move to L.A., get to know someone, talk them into giving you a referral, and then maybe we will look at it.” Are you kidding me? How many people can just up and do this?
My last thought on this is to give a little praise to the Indie producers and directors out there. To me, this is where the “future” of the movie industry as a whole lies. A lot of these people are more talented than some of the biggies running around L.A. Look at some of the great movies that are coming out from these artists. Go to the My Big Imagination Myspace Page and check some of them out. I am trying to add as many of them as possible.
Have fun.
